I have to wonder how people seem to forget that anything they write or say can be used against them down the road. I had a lover once who said to me “Wrong no man and write no woman.” That was years ago and I have never forgotten that. However it comes home to truly roost with me now. In this technological age anything you say can be overheard and used against you, forget about worrying about the warning not to put anything in writing.
I feel compelled to share with all my readers the story of my neighborhood two years ago.
There was a general upset going on, a small civil war here in the South, between neighbors. It got heated and ugly when it became apparent that the couple who tried to run our development had been eavesdropping on our conversations. Some people have no brains! They would repeat things they heard us say to other neighbors and it got back to us word for word. Real Double O-7 mentality going on here.
They had a listening device probably in their garage pointed at a house where a lot of discussions were going on and they were listening in on us. At first we were truly horrified that this was happening. Then of course we used it to feed them things and had fun with it.
Two old people – both retired – with nothing better to do could do this. Anyone can do this. I went to my local radio shack and for about $50 I could have returned the favor.
Eventually our militant husbands confronted the perpetrators and they were warned we were one step away from the State’s Attorney General filing a complaint. That was not BS. We had the SAG office ready to go.
I am not trying to sell paranoia here, but my goodness you are in the eye of the public 24/7, all year when you are in the political arena. If two stupid people in my neighborhood could buy a listening device and hear everything we were saying it can happen anywhere. It doesn’t have to be a federal wire tap, it can be a Radio Shack listening device.
Shame on you Patti Blagojevich. I was hoping you were clueless on this whole mess, but it is beginning to smell a little off as everything starts to unravel. Using profanity while on the phone in your home, not a good idea either, Patti. Too many people around, and that includes your kids.
I am having a little fun this morning by being in a comment room under the title of: Corruption Hangover Follows Election Night High. The article was written by an ABC reporter and he has certainly got some people’s dander. I post there as RedgoldFL trying as always to throw out some things to ponder, yet not definitively pointing fingers like most of them are doing. My joy in writing is to get people to ponder things and possibilities. I try to present two sides or at least give some semblance of fair balance.
I guess I am more of an editorial writer, if I were a paid journalist I am not sure I would last. I can’t give a slanted view, I have to give the public opinion, season it with some things to ponder, and then report my story.
The past several years journalists seem to have gotten sidetracked. There are new rules in place about telling your opinion or the opinion of your paper or news room over giving the opinion of the people on the street. The hype in the last election is proof of that.
I was fortunate enough to attend a convention recently where Morning Joe Scarborough and his side kick Mike Barnicle traded opinions. Morning Joe said something like this: “It was the media who got Barack Obama elected. You could not turn on a television or pick up a newspaper and not know who the reporters were voting for.” It was so true. When was there one report on Joe Biden to match the reporting on Sarah Palin? It was all so slanted, so one-sided.
Now people are holding their collective breath to see if there is any connection at all between Obama and Blagojevich. Of course there is, now don’t get your panties in a wad over that statement. The FBI has three years of taped conversations to listen to, and in those three years there will be a connection.
There will be the Grand Jury convened and anyone who has kept up with the record of Patrick Fitzgerald knows he takes no prisoners. No exceptions to the rule.
There is already a connection between Rezko and Blagojevich, and Rezko and Obama have a connection. Does that mean x plus y equals z? No, but things will come out and people will decide for themselves what really happened.
I leave you with this:
I have a bookmark with a wonderful saying on it. “The higher a monkey climbs, the more you see of it’s behind” – a tribute to deceased General Joseph Stilwell who loved that saying. Seems to me there are a lot of monkey asses showing right now and probably a lot more will show up. The visual is not pleasant.
